Loved Drawer Unit

Well hello and welcome! Thank you for dropping by.

Today I am sharing with you a little set of drawers I made from cardboard. I took measurements from a large matchbox, made 4 'matchboxes' and then measured all 4 to get the dimensions for the outside of the chest. I've always loved constructing things (and I did technical drawing at school!) so I did have fun making, but there are lots of blogs about that have all the info on construction.

What I've done to the drawers, once built, is covered using the new IndigoBlu 6x6 papers. I used the Fontastic Ephemera set, and used a few sheets in making this.

The image on the easel card, which I wanted to made look like a mirror or picture, is from the new IndigoBlu stamps - this is Caitlin, she is beautiful! and the sentiment "REMEMBER YOU ARE LOVED" is from the Becca stamp set.

I've distressed all the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink, I coloured in 'Caitlin' with Distress Inks too. Gives such a gentle, vintage feel. I topped this onto some kraftcard, which I edged with IndigoBlu Flitterglu, and stamped with Flitterglu, and I added IndigoBlu Mega Flake 'Chocolate Box'. The stamp I used for this was one of the new stamps from IndigoBlu called "Tattoo Heart" - in this you can only see the edges.

I ripped out a few pieces of the paper, created the heart from UTEE, and used IndigoBlu Flitterglu and Mega Flake to it. The little pendent is made using a small piece of paper cut from the cover of the pad, which I stuck down and sealed with IndigoBlu Slap It On, then used Ice Resin. I love the fact that you can see the image in the pendent that is also in the 'newspaper advert', I hope it looks like a dressing table, with bits and bobs laying on the dresser.

Thank you for visiting!

Gnarly Box

Thank you for visiting my blog! Today, I am showing a gorgeous box I decorated! I have used IndigoBlu products, as this was made and sent into IndigoBlu to be used as a sample.
Here you can see one of the lovely papers from the 6x6 IndigoBlu Fontastic Ephemera 190gsm paper.
This paper has a coating, but still with only a light sheen - it's great for using paint on - however, in this instance, I've merely stamped some Ink Splats (from the new IndigoBlu/Limor Webber stamp range) and also distressed around the edges.
The wording used here has been stamped using the new IndigoBlu stamp set "Funny Bird" which has lots of lovely, and some funny too, sentiments.
The little frame is made with UTEE with a PLAID mould set. The paper is from the cover of the paper set. Sealed with IndigoBlu Slap-It-On beforehand, I used Ice Resin to add the 'glass'.

Here I've taken a close up of the fish - this was actually one of those little plastic fish you get in a sushi snack pack. I've used IndigoBlu black Gee-Sso Good - two thin coats and then dry brushed over with IndigoBlu Goldfinger English Cottage Acrylic paint.  (The stringy bits in the picture are from my hot glue gun - I wanted to add some extra texture, and it kinda looks like cob-webs).

Overall, I had great fun making this, and tried to recycle bits and bobs - the 'lamp' is a wine cork, painted - and the bulb is from my other halves box of bits he's never used!

The box itself was recycled too (given to me by my friend Carolyne). I covered the box in tissues, using IndigoBlu Slap-it-On, then painted with IndigoBlu black Gee-Sso Good and then dry brushed with IndigoBlu Goldfinger English Cottage Acrylic paint (as you can tell, this is one of my favourite techniques at the moment!) A few embellishments and all done!

Hope you like and thank you once again for visiting!

Peace x

A Touch of Red

Good day to you, and thank you for visiting my blog!! I would like to show you my IndigoBlu Blog Challenge piece "A Touch of Red". Click HERE to get back to the IndigoBlu blog challenge.

I felt inspired to make a card for Valentine's and have been very lucky to have to play with, the new IndigoBlu stamps, to be released in the UK this month!

So, here you can see the lovely Heart Flourish Dinkie stamp. I have stamped this using the IndigoBlu Metallic Acrylic paints in Ruby Slippers. One thing you cannot see in the photograph is the shimmer in the paint!

I also took another of the new IndigoBlu stamps, from the Limor Webber range. This is called "Rugged Edge" and has 4 lovely gorgeously big edge stamps (which, of course, don't need to be used only as edges!!). This I have used around the edges, also with the Ruby Slippers paint, and also using IndigoBlu Flitterglu and Mega Flake "Chocolate Box".

I have then used the IndigoBlu Design Alphabet and Design Numbers stamp sets, with black Versafine ink, to just spell out my wording "I LOVE YOU".

I hope you like my little card! Oh, it's a 5"x7" size card base, so you can see, even though the Heart Flourish is Dinkie, at £4.99 it's still a really good size stamp!

Thank you once again for visiting!

Peace to all.

Let It Snow IndigoBlu style

Good morning, and thank you for visiting my blog post!

Today, I have attached my entry to the IndigoBlu Blog Challenge "Let It Snow" to offer as inspiration to all you lovely crafters!

I have used the A5 Stamp set "Here comes Santa", and I was inspired by Doreen's card from last months "Magical Masking" blog challenge (view here)!! This type of masking is new to me, in fact, this was my first go, as I'm much more of a grungy type of crafter!! So I had lots of fun making this card.

I've simply used black versafine ink, with my two most used distress inks, Chipped Sapphire and Tumbled Glass, splodged with water and dried off.

Thereafter, I simpled used a glue pen to blob dots all over, and used silver and white fine glitters.

Here is the inside:

I hope you like!

Good luck to everyone, and Merry Christmas to one and all!

Peace & Harmony,

Maxine

Christmas Preparations....

I've been preparing lots of cards for the Christmas fairs the last couple of days.....

So a quick hello, and here's a peek at them. I'm loving the use of orange (Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink) alongside the Versafine Habanero ink......ooooo so warm and inviting - and alongside the IndigoBlu metallic Aladdin paint.....? YES PLEASE!

Also, below, see a couple of things I've been working on with my wire....hmmm still need to get them looking good, but hey, these are my first attempts!!

Both are using 1mm wire. A bangle and a little ring.

And in other news..... my little girl found the my little 'handy-andy' tool rather amusing, and decided to investigate her little Sylvannian Family bunny.....

Peace and harmony to all.....now....let's see if I can this schedule thing to work......12.30.....

What a Weekend!

This weekend was a busy one, so I thought I would share it with you all!

Saturday 8th November - NEC Birmingham

Me before leaving (hate having my pic taken!)
I popped along, my first time at the Craft & Hobby show! 'Such a newb!' I kept thinking (in the voice of Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory)...  My first impression was that the place was massive - I thought I'd been there before, but I realise now I'd been to the Manchester NEC (for boring Finance Expo's). This was just as exciting as when I went to the "Spirit of Christmas" fairs at AliPali - and the Christmas hall reminded me of it, with all the lovely yummy food samples - of which I was not able to even get close to!!!!

It was incredibly busy, and I am not great in big crowds... One, I'm too polite and tend to let people through, therefore I never get anywhere, and Two, I get claustrophobic in a crowd - not small rooms so much, more in the crowd, so I did have a couple of panic attacks, but otherwise I was fine!!  I put this problem down to the fact that I'm a mere 4'10" in height and that I can't see anything around me. That's me, just there, looking rather ridiculous as always! Steve is 6' tall - and he took the photograph, it looks like, from the ceiling!!!! But I suppose that is the angle most people would look at me from so, if anyone recognises me, please say hi!! (@cazz_sunshine or Lady Craftalot - yes, if I'd worn the blue wig, I'd have been more recognisable...maybe next time!!)

There was so much to see, and I didn't even get anywhere near enough 'seeing' done. So my first thought was to head straight to the IndigoBlu (www.indigoblu.com) stand, so I could say hi to Kay and Alfie Halliwell-Sutton (they be the best bosses ever!!), and I also got to meet the lovely Mags, who was helping out. After a bit of a chin-wag, I trundled off to see what was about...

I found the Powertex (www.powertex.co.uk) stand and sat and watched Tracey do her demo - now I've been looking out for this since seeing a display from a lady in Norfolk (www.pandorapeople.co.uk) and knew I'd be buying - which I did! At the show, they had starter kits (which were only available at the show). I will do an experiment and document/photograph it and post to show the results..... fingers crossed, but I think this is something that I will enjoy!

Looked out and found my crafty buddies, Karen Lines, Lindsay Mason, Michelle Ann Johnson and I also chatted Kay Rutter (who told me I must attend her Hougie workshop next Saturday at Colemans Warehouse in Rushden!!!)

I met a lovely lady over lunch, who lived in Romford, Essex - and I wish I'd got her name, but we were just having a crafty chat, etc, and shared a table as we were both on our own for the day. So Hello to you if you are ready this! She will most likely remember the IndigoBlu chat we had :-)

I bought a few goodies - IndigoBlu (of course!!), also little Card-io peg stamps (cos they are just too cute), Chloe's glitter, and bizarely a pair of secatuers. (apologies for the fact that I cannot spell!!)

Popped along to the Create and Craft stage and the end of the day and was introduced to Leonie Pujol who was such a sweetie. I'm glad I said hi now. I didn't get a photo, just felt a bit silly to!! Saw Dawn Bibby and Andy Love and the gorgeous Magic Hands! The lovely customer care and marketing girls who were helping out were so very lovely and I wish them all the best.

So I enjoyed my day - and my drive to and from may have been long, in rain and my car stereo may not have been working just for that day, and I had to sing out loud as it was a rather boring drive, and I was knackered, my feet and legs hurt, and I had some pretty bad luck when I first arrived....(girl trouble!!!) - but I had fun nonetheless...!

Sunday 9th November - Witchford Village Hall - Christmas Fayre.
Up early and out to sell my handmade jewellery, cards and also do a little IndigoBlu stamp demo! I was pretty tired from my day at NEC - but I had a lovely time meeting friends and also meeting new people. Lots of money was raised for Pancreatic Cancer (www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk).

To see all the details of the day and find out about further events, please visit Gav&Emma's fundraising page on facebook.

Well, that is it for now... I'm going to go craft now. Peace and harmony to all those living and all those we've lost.

NEC....here I come!

This last couple of weeks has been so busy!!
To a very quick recap and also, just a hello to touch base as I've been so quite on my blog...

Firstly, here is my inspiration piece for the IndigoBlu Blog Challenge!!! Magical Masking! Very simply, I used paper to mask areas and used distress inks to create the lovely almost rainbow effect.
I chose poppies, for obvious reasons - this is from the IndigoBlu Poppy Meadow set.
The wording is from the Boudicca set.

I hope you like!

I went to a really large 'shop' in Snetterton and it has a small little craft area - well, I saw this lovely Graphic45 pad, and couldn't resist....it will sit with my other Graphic 45 pads, not being used as it's so nice, I daren't!!!

And lastly, for now, here is my sweet angel - I cut her hair!!! it's sad, BUT I think she looks super cute and the aim of the game is for her to get used to brushing her own hair - she may not look it, but she's 9. She's dinkie like me (all the best things come in small packages, I was always told, and they were right!!!)

So there you go.... I'm off to get ready to go to the NEC - quick shower, dress and drive over!! Not sure how long it will take so hoping to head off nice and early....so I'd better go!

Have fun everyone! Maybe see you there!!!!

Peace & harmony xx
